Komen
VT-NH Race for the Cure©
"Survivor of the Year" Nominations sought for 2007
While the Komen VT-NH Race for the Cure® is a celebration
of all breast cancer survivors, one Vermont or New Hampshire
survivor will be singled out for a special honor.
The Survivor of the Year Award is designed to honor a breast
cancer survivor who has celebrated at least two anniversaries
of her/his original breast cancer diagnosis, and has faced the
challenges of the disease, turning them into personal triumphs.
Nominations for the 2007 Survivor of the Year Award will be
accepted through July 1.
A selection committee will review each application and the award
will be announced during the 2007 Komen VT-NH Race for the Cure
at Hildene Meadowlands in Manchester Center on Sunday, July
29. Letters of nomination detailing reasons for submitting the
nomination, including the nominee’s name, address, phone
number, and date of original breast cancer diagnosis, should
be sent to the Komen Vermont Race for the Cure©, PO Box
2496, Manchester Center, VT 05255. Letters of nomination must
be accompanied by two additional letters of support. Nominations
must be received by July 1, 2007.
"It is a challenge to choose only one Survivor of the Year,
" said Carri Rubenstein, Survivor Committee Chair and the
2006 Survivor of the Year. "At every planning meeting,
we focus on how to make the Race bigger and better for our survivors,
They are, after all, why we are here."
