Komen VT-NH Race for the Cure®

MANCHESTER, VT. –  Each year,  thousands  of runners and walkers, volunteers and sponsors  join together  on one day, in one place to make a difference every day in communities across Vermont and New Hampshire.

Now in its 16th year,  the  Komen Vermont-New Hampshire  Race for the Cure is set for July 27, 2008, at Hildene Meadowlands in Manchester Village, Vermont. Since that first Vermont Race for the Cure in 1993, the Affiliate has granted more than $4 million to community breast cancer education, treatment and screening programs.

And since that first Race in 1993, the event has grown from 700 participants to nearly 4,000.  Visit www.vtnhcure.org for information on how to get involved.

Today, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for women ages  40-59.  This year alone nearly 200,000 women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer with more than 40,000 dying from this disease, the majority of whom have no known risk factors

Support the 2008 Komen VT-NH Race for the Cure as a Sponsor.  Despite recent advances, without a cure in the next 25 years, 25 million women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and an estimated 10 million will die from the disease.   In response to these facts, Komen pledges to invest an additional $1 billion in education, community health programs and research in the next decade.

Proud in the Crowd is one more opportunity to support the Komen VT-NH Affiliate and all the runners and walkers on course. Call 802-362-2733 for more information or pick up a Race application.
