Hello friends,
As the Legislature begins the process of actual work, after the pomp and circumstance of the opening few weeks, VT CURE encourages our client's, their families, and interested parties to pay particular attention.
This past week (1/9/23 - 1/14/23) Bills at the State house began to show up in force. There are so many legislative bills, that keeping folks updated is difficult, however, here is the legislation we've seen and think our friends, loved ones of incarcerated folks, and others may want to review, everyone reading this encouraged to visit the State House and talk with your Representatives.
The House Corrections and Institutions Committee ((29) Vermont Committee on Corrections and Institutions - YouTube) this week:
Tuesday, and Thursday the committee is discussing Corrections issues, and can be watched on the YouTube link above.
House Judiciary ((29) Vermont House Committee on the Judiciary - YouTube) has a number of interesting pieces of Legislation, this week the Committee will focus on H.41 and H.45. The legislation of interest that VT CURE are tracking in this committee are:
